Gabriela (Gaby) is a PhD Candidate in the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) Program. She received a BA in Behavioral Neuroscience at Connecticut College. Gaby is a member of the Lerner Lab where she studies the adaptations of the mesolimbic dopaminergic pathway in different states of pain and its possible influence on opioid misuse. When she’s not in lab, Gaby enjoys boxing and dance classes, watching Parks and Recreation, and trying out any recipe she can find on google and the Food Network. Alberto is a PhD Candidate in the Driskill Graduate Program (DGP) at Northwestern University. He received a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University Of California-Irvine. Alberto is a member of the Cianciotto lab where he studies new and novel aspects of Legionella pneumophilia iron acquisition and regulation. Miranda is a PhD student in the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) Program. She received an BS in Neuroscience and Child Learning & Development at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a member of the Tysseling Lab where she studies functional recovery and motor movement after spinal cord injury in a mouse model. When she’s not in lab, Miranda enjoys eating new foods, working out, and cuddling her dog. You can contact Miranda at 

 

 

 

 

 

 Amira Affaneh is a Ph.D. student in Northwestern’s Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (NUIN) in Dr. John Kessler’s lab. She received BS in Neuroscience at DePaul University. In the lab, she studies the effects of APOE on transsynaptic spread of phosphorylated tau in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Nkatha Mwenda is a Ph.D. student in Northwestern’s Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (NUIN) in Dr. Talia Lerner’s laboratory. She received her BA in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience from Kalamazoo College.
