Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS)

Type of Program: Adjunct Major
Educational Purpose/Goal:

Enables a select group of high ability students to combine the study of social sciences with rigorous training in mathematics, statistics, and formal modeling.

Allows students to explore fields beyond math and science, and prepares them to succeed in graduate study and in a wide variety of careers in the social sciences and business.
Program Structure: Twelve core courses and a required senior thesis.
Target Audience: Students gifted in Mathematics.
All schools and majors.
Participation/Entrance Requirements: Application required.
Must apply as a high school senior for first-year entry OR
as a Northwestern first-year student for sophomore entry.
*No entry beyond sophomore year.

  • Psychology of Decision-Making
