Staff Spotlight: Francesca Bullerman

I joined the Northwestern Law community in October of 2017. I was hired as a Faculty Assistant, supporting ten residential law faculty members and the MSL adjuncts. The best part of my job is knowing that I am a part of this brilliant community of professors, staff and students. My goal is to interact with as many people at the school as possible, while making their time here as easy, memorable and enjoyable as possible.

Depending on the day, I may say “home” is Athens, Greece, or I may say New York City. I’ve spent almost exactly half of my life in Greece. Quick trip down memory lane: I was born in NYC, moved to Athens, Greece when I was two and a half. Spent 12 years there. I moved back to NY when I was in high school and continued on to college in upstate NY. After graduation, I worked a couple of jobs in NYC and decided I wanted to move back to Greece. So, I did. I spent the next five years teaching English as a second language and traveling around Europe making memories. In 2010, when the economic crisis hit Greece, I decided it was time for me to move back to NY. Shortly thereafter, I got a job at a law firm. During that time, I made some great friends and gained tremendous paralegal experience. In 2016, I married an Illinois native and we decided to move to Chicago. We now call Lakeview our home.

I am the Chicago Chapter leader of the Alumni Association for Binghamton University. I volunteer with an animal rescue where my husband and I fostered seven dogs (and foster failed with our last one. Chase doesn’t seem to mind that we decided to keep him). In my free time, I enjoy cooking and staying active. I am a member of a walking/jogging group and I also frequent group fitness classes (Zumba, kickboxing etc.).

Recommendations:

  • Museum: My favorite museum in Chicago is the Shedd Aquarium.
  • Restaurant: As for restaurants, I really love our local pizza joint: Michael’s Tavern on Broadway.
  • Spot in the Law School: I love the Law School library, right by the windows. I could stare at Lake Michigan all day if you let me. If it’s sunny, you can find me on the patio at Harry’s Café.
