Geobiology of extreme environments

We study microbial life living in deep continental fracture fluids at the Deep Mine Microbial Observatory (DeMMO) in Lead, South Dakota. We sample fluids across a range of depths and geochemical conditions from 800-4,850 feet below surface. Sampling began in 2013 and is ongoing. Click here to find out more about research at DeMMO!
