Building Doha is a multimedia website created by students at Northwestern University in Qatar during a five-week intensive Advanced Online Storytelling course.

The website features journalistic work on Doha’s architectural and urban planning journey, from the historical and cultural evolution of the designs and structures of traditional Qatari houses, the impact of the country’s urban development plans on tribal families and foreign nationals, to the sustainability issues facing local structures and the influence of international design trends on the city’s high-rises and smaller buildings.

This class was conducted in consultation and collaboration with the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation, which advocates for sustainability and green buildings in Qatar, including cultural sustainability.

This website was launched and published on Feb. 7, 2017.
