Welcome to Backward Glances 2024, the Biennial Screen Cultures Graduate Student Conference hosted by the Department of Radio/TV/Film at Northwestern University.

This year, we delve into the theme of In-Betweenness: Atmosphere, Traces, Media, exploring its dynamic nature beyond traditional notions of transition and liminality. We invite contributions that reframe in-betweenness as a fluid operation, shaped by diverse influences and circumstances.
